DEFENCE AND BRITAIN’S MILITARY ROLE

The Military

We are now all aware that the war in Iraq was brought on by lies. The subsequent war in Afghanistan is also open to some serious questions over authenticity. Again we as a nation seem to accept that we are only involved in these conflicts due to oil.

So we let the politicians manipulate the media and in turn manipulate us into thinking that we are under serious threat.

The true threat to our society is greed over oil by the power hungry in this country and in the USA.

Let us not forget that the Afghan war in the 1980’s against the Russian invasion was heavily backed by the American CIA. The so called terrorist Osama Bin Laden has been and many still believe is in the pay of the CIA. However we are diverging here, so we will return to this later in this web site.

Our Troops

Much evidence has been relayed to the press and media that our troops who are serving in countries with conflict are being expected to fight without the proper equipment. In some cases troops are forced to pay for equipment out of their own money as the equipment offered is either inadequate or just not provided. There is no excuse for this and yet the government seem to be very quiet on these issues. Again we see that politicians are manipulating the media attention away from the very real and dangerous situations our troops are facing.

My proposal is simple and cost effective. We scrap all purchase of further nuclear missiles. We have enough of them already to destroy the world so why do we need any more. I also propose that we scrap the existing missiles and just keep the bare minimum required. The saving in this alone would be enough to fund the shortfall in the areas that concern our troops.

Also not much media attention to this fact but some of our troops who are wounded or even sadly killed in action have grave concerns over payments to their loved ones or just general payments for health insurance. Thanks to the actor Ross Kemp and the team who made the documentary about our troops in Afghanistan the real picture of inadequacy is seen. Those of you familiar with the programme will realise the frustration of these young men and women serving our country.

My proposal will be to withdraw our armed forces from the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan immediately. I also would have a total overhaul of the funding of the MOD making it favourable to the serving personnel. Yes defence of this country is expensive but the life of our troops is not cheap either.

The Bush administration wanted this conflict and for what ever the reason Blair followed was an obvious mistake. Again we must never forget that this war is based on lies. I propose we seek out the truth and if need be cut all military ties with the United States of America under its current regime.

We can continue trade and friendship with the USA but not in the current climate. It is my opinion that George Bush and the people behind him are the most dangerous people on the planet. Those sort of allies we can do without.

( I wrote this page when George Bush Jnr was still in office. We know see the American people have elected a new President. Barack Obama is yet to prove himself to the world as a new genuine politician of change. Like most of us I wish he is and wish him and his administration well. )
